Description of the symposium from Jo Corney

Increasing numbers of autistic and non-autistic children and young people are finding mainstream school challenging, with many ‘choosing’ home education as an alternative. As a result, there is a need to understand how different learning contexts support and nurture children and young people to assist discussions around best practice. This presentation is a reflection on my doctoral research which focuses on nurturing approaches to learning in two contexts: a secondary school Nurture Group and Home Education Community. It discusses the challenging question of ‘what are we nurturing children for in inclusive mainstream education?’

Kind regard,
