Description of this seminar

In this seminar, Imene will discuss how autism is understood and experienced in Algeria, focusing on the gap between growing public awareness and the limited inclusion and support available.  They will look at how misconceptions and stigma shape attitudes toward autistic learners, and how these attitudes influence their place in educational settings. They will also address the everyday realities faced by families who navigate cultural expectations, blame, financial pressures, and a lack of government services. Together, these perspectives show how social attitudes, cultural narratives, and systemic gaps shape the lives of autistic individuals in Algeria and point to the need for more inclusive, culturally grounded approaches.
